Move Licensing Server to a New Server

Move Licensing Server to a New Server

Postby NMRHCA » Wed Aug 01, 2007 11:39 am

I have a legacy licensing server which is being phased out and all the services are being put on a shiny new server.

I also tried doing a backup and restore which didn't throw an error but is not serving up licensing all the same.

When I try to install the license I get an error saying that the MachineID is not the same.

snip..

XERR_LICENSE_INVALID_MACHINEID (16557)

License Information cannot be read (invalid machine ID).
endsnip..

Is there a way to move the licensing information?

I'm running ...

OTG Software, Inc

I'm not sure what kind of licensing method you are using. If it's a dongle, install the software, move the dongle and activate.

If it's software, and assuming it's like VRS licensing, install the software on the new machine, deactivate the old one, activate the new one.

That's my 2¢, but then your problem may be completely different.

Hi,

you can request that the licence be moved if you use the temporary activation utility on the website.

The machine ID of the individual server is factored into a checksum at the bottom of the activation code that you paste in or that the system picks up automatically. If you try and reactivate on a different server the ID's won't match and so you cannot licence Ascent, hence the error.

Kofax will release your licence and allow you to register on the new Server.
