Licensing - Dongle count

Postby lolita » Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:31 am

We have issues with our operators logging and tracking the number of images scanned daily. There are times when their count is off (does not match AC). How does the dongle key count work? Is the count adjusted at the release of an image job or once the batch job is completed?

At scan time.

It's decremented with each scanned page. I'm not sure under what conditions it doesn't count. It may or may not count "replace", or discarded separator sheets.

I've found you usually get your count back if you delete the batch before you've closed it from the scan module.

While scanning / importing documents into Ascent Capture, you will notice that the page-counter decrements; this happens only temporary. Once you are closing the batch in the Scan / Import module, the number of images is really taken off the monthly, annual or page-count licenses, whereas if you are deleting the batch, the number of scanned images is added back to the counter. If you are deleting a batch in any module later then the import, the number of images are still gone.

SP3 patch - Scan decrement

Postby eglitsmb » Tue Nov 27, 2007 7:16 am

Check out SP3 patch, yes there is a SP3 and then a patch on top of that released in 7/07. Not easy to install and may cause several issues, but it will supposedly correct the scan decrement issue. Call Kofax and they can advise.

if you plan installing a service pack, go for SP5....contains SP3's patch and is easier to deploy...
