Object reference error

Object reference error

I've installed and successfully actived Kofax Desktop 2.0 from our internal delivery site. When I attempt to run the program, I receive an error message stating "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This is after reinstalling the software for a second time. What else should I try?

Scott -

Which version of Windows are you using?

Also, which model scanner is installed?

Do you get this error before or after the Kofax Desktop Splash Screen appears?

Thanks for the response John. I am using Windows XP SP3. The scanner is a Fujitsu FI-6130 and I get the message after the splash screen appears. At the bottom of the splash screen the status message that appears just before the error message is "Loading viewer...".

Are you able to open the Kofax Desktop Administration module?
Kofax Desktop has a diagnostic log file that can help to determine the source of the error.
If you can, open the Kofax Desktop Administration tool and choose the Preferences tab. There’s a field that shows where the log file is stored. By default, this is store at C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Kofax\KofaxDesktop

If the log file is present, please send it to me.

Update:

This user had upgraded from Kofax Desktop version 1.0 to version 2.0.
After uninstalling Kofax Desktop again, and deleting all KofaxDesktop folders from the Program Files directory as well as the \Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\Kofax\Kofax Desktop folder, the user then reinstalled successfully and was able to scan.
