Desktop Registration problem

Desktop Registration problem

Postby Tjay88 » Wed Oct 06, 2010 4:56 am

We've just trialled Kofax Desktop and found it does what we need so purchased a license. However, I can't get it to take the license key as it keeps saying 'You must have an Internet connection to register ..." even when the machine does have internet access. Is this program using a non standard port to do the registering of the license? If it is then we have a problem as anything on ports other than 80 and 443 will be blocked by the firewall. Is there another way we can get this working as we are in the position of owning a piece of software we can't use at the moment. Any help will be greatfully recieved.

Regards,
Tony

Hello Tony,

Unfortunately, Kofax Desktop is unable to activate from behind a firewall.
The product only requires internet access for Activation and De-activation.
Would you be able to have IT staff help you with this just to get the license activated?

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply and confirming what I thought. I am one of the IT team but getting changes made to the corporate firewall to get a piece of software activated is not an option that's open. However I think I can work my way around this problem this time by using a 3G dongle for the registration process.

Tony

Hello Tony,

Have you been able to activate the license?
