Workaround: Creation of a Virtual Printer on Windows Vista

When Kofax e-Transactions 2.0 is installed on a Windows Vista operating system, there is a problem that prevents you from creating a virtual printer using the Sender application. (SPR00047454)

There is no workaround for creating a dedicated virtual printer. However, you can create a standard virtual printer equivalent "Kofax Printer", which allows you to send KeT documents without a physical printer.

To create an equivalent standard virtual printer:

1. From the Windows taskbar, click Start to display the menu, and then select Control Panel.
2. From within Control Panel, double-click the Printers folder.
3. Right-click within the folder to display the menu, and then select Add Printer.
4. Click Add a local printer.
5. Select Create a new port, and select Local Port from the drop-down list box.
6. Click Next.
7. In the Enter a port name box, type "C:\ProgramData\Print.txt" and click OK.
8. On the Install the printer driver screen, select HP from the Manafacturer list.
9. Select the HPLaserJet 5Si printer driver.
10. Click Next.
11. In the Printer name box, type "Kofax Printer."
12. Click Next to install the printer.
13. Set up Printer Sharing options as required.
14. Click Finish.
