Background Color to White vs. Ignore Background Color

Background Color to White vs. Ignore Background Color

Recently, our company has switched to Kofax Express 2.0 for our scanning needs. Black and white is working great! However, we are struggling to set up a decent color Scan Profile. We'd like the Scan Profile to accurately capture the color of the original and ignore the background on the page (whether on colored paper or white). However, when Background Color to White is selected, the background on the scan is tinged grayish. We've also tried to check the Ignore Background Color option. The same thing happens.

Is there another option that needs to be deselected in order for these buttons to work (i.e., if I have smoothing color selected, could this be the culprit?)? We've spent a considerable amount of time selecting and unselecting various combinations of options with little sucess.

Our vendor told us we are getting "good color scans" and had no further recommedations for us. However, we believe the current color scanning quality is on par with our company standards, especially in terms of the electronic copy replacing the original.

We are using Kofax Express 2.0 with both a Fujitsu 6770 scanner and a Canon 9080C scanner.

Has anyone else had this problem? We'd appreciate any ideas. Thank you!
