I just installed VRS 4.5 SP1 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine for use with a Fujitsu fi-5650c (with hardware VRS). The software is installed properly but I keep getting Error 20184. When I talked with tech support, they said that error is indicating that the capture software is not connecting with the CGA board because it "thinks" it is being used by another application. (i.e. you can't have two different capture applications trying to access the same scanner at the same time.). The only problem is that I have only 1 application up. I tried VC Demo and it could not connect either.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Kofax tech support is also looking into the problem.

Stupid question (but it bit me): are you sure you've plugged your USB cable into the right port on the scanner? As I recall, there's two ports on the machine. One for the base machine and one for the add-in CGA card. If you plug it in to the wrong one, it won't work.

I'd also check to see if Fujitsu supports that scanner on your OS.
