FUJITSU FI-5220C and Adrenaline 650i

FUJITSU FI-5220C and Adrenaline 650i

Postby DmitryM » Fri Nov 24, 2006 3:18 am

Our company (in Russia) decided to purchase Fujitsu FI-5220C and Adrenaline 650i card to have barcode recognition functionality.

Our local HW vendor says that this card will not work with this scanner without purchasing additional VRS 4.0 Plus for Desktop Scanning.

We use other application for scanning (which is designed specificallu to work with Kofax SCSI card) and so not need any scanning SW.

Could you please tell is my vendor right or not and we can use 650i with Fujitsu FI-5220C without VRS 4.0 Plus for Desktop Scanning?

The Adrenaline 650i is still a SCSI card, so actually it will work without using SVRS. The card contains the AIPE (Adrenaline Image Processing Engine) which handles the barcode functionality (if your application is image controls based, of course).

Hope this helps.

It looks to me like the fi-5220C comes with VRS. However, you're asking about bar code recognition. You may need to upgrade the license to get that functionality.

Yes, thats right, those Fujitsu scanners ship with VRS 4.0 Basic.
I have to get familiar with that ;-)
