SCSI error 20444

SCSI error 20444

Postby brownmrocks » Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:22 am

I have been trying to resolve a 20444 communication error for a day and a half now. I hope that you may have a suggestion that I have not tried.
When attempting to test scan in the Kofax VCDemo application using a Fujitsu 4099D scanner, Adrenaline 1700 SCSI card, and windows XP Pro spk2, I get the communication error at approximately the same time that the scanner is initialized (you can hear the scanner making mechanical adjustments). We have the identical hardware configuration on at least 20 scanning stations and this is my first encounter with this particular issue.

I have tried the following:

Sequenced power cycles with PC/scanner and scanner/PC

Operation from network admin login and from Local Administrator login

3 different SCSI cables

1 other Fujitsu 4099D scanner

1 other computer

Reloaded XP and Kofax drivers 2 times

Please advise?

is the error stuck to a particular workstation & scanner?

have you tried switching scanners?

it maybe a hardware issue on the scanner.

Sounds like it's time to play "swap-ies". Swap known good parts until you determine if it's in the scanner or the card or what. Sometimes it's the only way to figure these things out.
