adrenaline 650i not workining with lenovo 9645

Postby billi » Mon Jun 16, 2008 4:35 pm

Hi,

Im new to these forums and was wondering if anyone can offer advice, im have an issue with a new model Lenovo pc. We have been using adrenaline 650i scsi cards with our pc's to connect to various fujitsu scanners and it has been working fine. We have connected previous lenovo workstations eg. 9210 without any dramas.

We have a new lenovo pc 9645 and the scsi card will not work with this model for some reason. Unlike the 9210 version, when we install the scsi card in the 9645 pc, the scsi card is not detected and doesn't display the card info in POST. In the 9210 pc, before the O/S is loaded, the SCSI card is detected displaying the name, model, version...etc. The 9645 doesn't.

We have updated the bios of the pc and checked the bios settings (comparing them to the previous pc 9210) but no joy as yet.

Any help would be greatley appreciated.

Cheers,
billi

I had the same problem with an HP. There was some conflicts with the IRQ settings of the on board devices. Even after changing it from the defaults, for some reason, it defaulted back to the default settings. We couldn't use it on the workstation so we had to switch to a USB scanner.

Do you know which chipset the Lenovo uses? If so, check the Kofax Knowledgebase entry #10096.

650i Cards and Lenovo PC's

Postby david.tankersley@kofax.com » Mon Aug 04, 2008 9:26 am

This is a known issue.

Please see QAID 10096 on our knowledge base.

There has been an incompatibility recognized between the Adrenaline 650 boards and the Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 PC, and any other PCs that use the Intel Q35 chipset (Intel 82Q35 GMCH) (82801IO ICH9DO South Bridge).

Essentially, Adrenaline 650/650i cards are not supported on these motherboards. If you have a VRS Workgroup or Professional license, or are using an Ascent Capture workstation, then using the scanner's USB connection (if available) will provide AIPE functionality if this is necessary.
Please call Kofax tech support for further details.
