KIC-Electronic Documents

Anyone migrated from the end-of-life KCIC-Folder to the KIC-ED? Seems like functionality was LOST, specifically:

1) Can't map folder and file names to batch fields (and no-the kfxRoutingNumber property in KIC-ED does not provide this. It provides the full path to the file).
2) Each subfolder is a batch.

#1 we got around through scripting. #2 is a huge feature IMO that was not translated into the new KIC-ED. Instead now there are four (YES 4) timers that need to be configured: when a folder is checked for new documents timer (along with file not modified since timer), when a batch is closed and sent to KC timer, and how often the KC Plug-In polls Message Connector for new messages timer. Now it's a challenge just to get all the contents in a subfolder into a single batch. Most of the time the files are split into multiple batches, preventing users from organizing pages into documents. Using trigger files or XML files is not an option.

Although there are a few advantages with KIC-ED, to me it's not suited for folder monitoring. Seems like good functionality was lost, but added configuration and headaches brought (define a connection, define an import connector, define a destination, define a rule).

Just wanted to see if anyone else out there has had the same challenges when migrating from KCIC-Folder to KIC-ED.

We havent implemented it but planning to use the KIC-electronic documents for the first time to import files from a folder. Can you please provide some info on how difficult it was to get access to the file names as index fields and so on? How is the scripting done. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.
