Network Server Quality Control

Postby » Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:25 am

I have seen some postings on the data bandwidth required to transfer information from one site to a remote site, but haven't seen anything directly related to running different modules on a centralized server but running the modules at a different site.

We are investigating attempting to run different modules of Kofax at different locations.

Our proposal is along the lines of this:

Site A:
Scan, Recognition Server, Validation and all other post processing work (i.e. OCR, PDF creation

Site B:
Quality Control

Has anyone run into major issues with this sort of network/remote server setup? Either operationally, bandwidth or otherwise?

Thank you

This is exactly what ACIS/KCNS is designed for, so you shouldn't have any problems running in this fashion... unless you have a very poor connection, or are scanning enormous batches (colour images or large volume scanning per batch etc).

One consideration with running the QC module at a different site to Scan is that if the problem with the batch is that a re-scan is required, then the physical documents won't be available at the QC site.

What are you doing with the QC module? Is it there for exceptions or as an explicit queue?
