Xtrata ideal for similarly designed forms?

If most of the forms have a similar layout - Logo, index fields, other characteristics, except for the form title is different, then is Xtrata suitable in such cases for form identification?

Define all the similar form types (if it is really only the form title that is different) as one form type, then it should work. Use it for registration of your zones and it will work very well.

Xtrata identifies forms based on the layout, not on the content. Wim is right, if the forms are identical except for the form title, you probably would define them as just one form type.

If you need to actually assign different form types and document classes for each one (e.g. when release setup is different for different form types) then Xtrata's layout identification would be of no help. In this case you could do form ID based on OCR form identification zones, but have page level form ID disabled. This would allow you to do the form ID just based on the results of the OCR form id zones.

xtrata works very bad with very simmilar forms...

For example, we had a problem with Portuguese vs English forms. Very much the same form, but with zones on slightly different places. On top of this, we have multi-page forms... Absolutelly no way to get it working, even with Kofax people trying to do the setup...

Xtrata shoud have a way to use OCR zones to help classification. For now, xtrata uses OCR zones, but only to help the engine to "register" fields.

Also another "observation" about Xtrata: "backgroud removal" works very poorly... sometimes its better to do the cleanup "manually" on ascent, as you dont know what kind of "garbage" xtrata will leave behind...
