In the Admin module.

Right-click the document class, Properties, PDF tab, check Enable Kofax PDF generation. Click OK.
Right click the batch class, Properties, Queues tab, add PDF Generator. Click OK.

Right click the document class again, Release scripts. In your release script, go to the Document storage tab and make the appropriate settings.

Or use Adobe Acrobat Capture.

Did I understand the question? It seems that you should be able to use the built-in features of the release scripts. Be aware that if you are using the Ascent Capture Text release, and you want to store your documents in subfolders of the destination directory based on values captured (Image Storage tab), this will only work with the "Release image files" option on the Document Storage tab, not the "Release Kofax PDF files" option.

Hope this helps.
Ciao.

don't forget to change the dpi for the pdf. By default, I think it is 72. It's in the doc class properties for the pdf.

Well, I'd set it as high as the resolution at which you're scanning. Anything higher will not gain you better resolution. Also, file size might be an issue, as higher resolution PDFs will result in larger files. Play around with it.

Hi All,
To use Kofax PDF Image Only output
Open the Document Class Properties dialog box.
Click the PDF tab.
Select the Enable Kofax PDF generation option.
If desired, select a dictionary.
In the Recognition Profile drop-down list, select Kofax PDF Image Only.
If desired, select the “Skip first page of each document” option.
Click OK.
Open the Batch Class Properties dialog box.
Click the Queues tab.
Add the Kofax PDF Generator and other required modules.
Click OK.
Open the Release Script dialog box.
Select the Ascent Capture Text release script.
Note You can select any script that supports Kofax PDF output, including your custom scripts. The following steps are based on the standard Ascent Capture release script.

Click the Document Storage tab.
Select the Release Kofax PDF files option.
Select a Release directory.
Click OK.
Click Close.
Publish the batch class.

For DPI -
Resoultion 200
JPEG Quality 100

Please let me know the above are ok or any furhter changes required for better Quality for PDF Release.

Thanks

2 things you can do to improve on the quality of the image.
First will be to scan at a minimum of 300 dpi(Of course your scanner has to permit)
Second, Set the PDF image resolution also to 300 dpi....

Why are you talking about JPG here?

Thanks

Happy New Year everyone!

Thought I would just add to this existing post...since it has a lot to do with what I am trying to accomplish.

I have an existing batch class using the IBM DB2 Content Manager Export connector to send images (tiff's) to Content Manager. We now want to add a second export connector (ODBC Database Export connector) to send the same images to a shared directory. We have it up and working, but found out that you can only view those images using IrfanView, VCDemo or other comparable viewers.

So, we now want to look at storing the images as PDF's to the shared directory. But, want to continue sending the images as tiff's to Content Manager. I read this post about the changes needed to store as PDF's...after making these changes will it still allow me to store the images in Content Manager as tiff's or will all images now have to be in PDF format for both connectors?

Thanks.

If you create a PDF, you can release either the PDF or the TIFF. It depends on the settings in the respective release script.

(If you don't create the PDF, then clearly you can't release a PDF and expect it to work.)

Thanks for the help...everything seems to be working as we want. Have one export connector sending a TIFF image to Content Manager and the 2nd connector sending a PDF image to a shared drive.
