Invalid Pointer exception on release, Capture 9.0

Invalid Pointer exception on release, Capture 9.0

Postby jtcarm » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:06 am

Has anyone encountered this most helpful error in their log file:

2012-06-29 16:46:17, 0x00000018, 0, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, C:\Program Files\Kofax\Capture\Bin, Kofax Capture Export, FCVSJVRBA2, 9.00.1372, , 0, Script #1 (FCVS-Legacy-Import) [CKfxException: 0x00000011 Invalid pointer File: Line: 0 Pkg : 0 Stat: 0x80004003, 0x00000000, 0x00000000], ,

I can't find anything about it in the KB. We are using the OpenText LiveLink 8.1 release script in our export connector, but it doesn't look like the OT module has even been called when this error is asserted.

We have successfully released other documents using this same batch class/export connector. The batch consists of 6 PDF files ranging in size from 1.4 to 5 meg.

Thanks!

Taking some wild guesses here:

Since you say it's a PDF, have you checked to make sure the PDF's have been created? Are they in a location that the Release process can get to them? Does the release process have the needed rights to add the documents to the system?

Since it's worked before, it's likely something is wrong on this go-around that the programmers never wrote a good error trap for. So it can't give you a better explanation of what's wrong.

I've seen errors like this when using a release script written for older Kofax versions. You need to install a compatibility pack found on the KC9 DVD image and it will sort things out (basically you are missing some DLLs).

Or, you can navigate to Knowledgebase article QAID# 13555 and run the InstallComponents.msi for which there is a hyperlink. Here is a link to the article:

If they are going to hate you anyway for what you do, then you might as well put forth your best effort.
