export to SQL as blob

export to SQL as blob

Postby » Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:31 am

I understand the drawbacks of exporting the image as a SQL blob, but the customer insists this is how they want to do it.

Is there an export script available?

thanks.

There is (or at least there was) a script called SQL Pass Through on the Kofax site. It's easy to modify this script to use BLOBs for image storage.
What is the drawback you refer to? In case the DB is MS SQL, Microsoft suggest that performance is better if binaries do not generally exceed 2 MB.

cool, thanks, will look into it.

the db can get very large if using blobs vs a reference to a path.

What is your definition of large? I'm working at a customer now having millions of documents in a database...
