Debugging Export Connectors With Visual Studio .NET

Debugging Export Connectors With Visual Studio .NET

Postby nicola$ » Tue Apr 23, 2013 8:20 am

Hi,

I followed strictly this app note : ftp://ftp.kofax.com/pub/support/capture ... _VSNET.pdf

I opened the Visual Studio Solution of the Kofax Text Release code and I tried putting breakpoints but the Kofax.TextRelease.dll from Kofax bin folder keeps being called instead of the one located in Debug folder of VS project.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I use the method in the QAID here:

http://knowledgebase.kofax.com/faqsearch/results.aspx?QAID=13673

And it works fine for me.

Hi David,

that's what the pdf guide is telling. In the meantime, I got it working :D
I checked the "Make assembly COM-visible" checkbox. In Visual Studio 2010, goto the Project Properties, Application tab, Assembly Information...
I also did some registry substitution of the Kofax.TextRelease.dll (not detailing this here)
But I think the first action should be sufficient and did the trick in my case.

I had submit this question in parallel to Kofax support. Here's their answer that might help as well :
In order to start troubleshooting the issue, please follow this steps:

1) Rebuild your solution. And try to debug again. If the issue is still being experienced, continue with point 2 + 3.
2) Copy the new dll's (Kofax.TextRelease.dll ) into the Kofax Bin folder. (Take a backup first of the dlls, as a matter of caution)
3) Register the new dll's using regasm.
4) Try to debug again.
